Be a match for your footie stars
MANCHESTER United fans can now dress like their idols off the pitch – if they have €1,615 to spare.
The club’s official fashion label is iconic British brand Paul Smith.
And the Old Trafford players will wear €366 designer trousers and €155 T-shirts when they travel to games next season.
Leather trainers costing €415 and jackets for €680 will also be part of the new off-pitch kit, with the whole rig-out available for fans to buy if they want to dress like their idols.
The price is on top of a full adult replica playing strip with a squad member’s name and number, which now costs around €140.
The team has agreed to do away with stiff suits, shirts and ties to create a range of relaxed outfits that appeal to stars such as Marcus Rashford and Harry Maguire.
But some supporters are less than impressed by the move – especially after yesterday’s 4-0 nightmare.
On a post of the players before a Far East tour, one fan commented: “Are we going there to play football or put on a dance show or something?” Another added: “They look like a boy band.” While a third said: “They should put more effort into playing football, not clothes.”
Paul Smith said: “Tailoring has changed over the years, especially since office codes have slackened and the post-pandemic world proposed a new way of working.
“As our lives evolve, suits have loosened up. What was smart 14 years ago when our partnership with the team began is less relevant today.
“To reflect that evolution, we decided to outfit the players in a suit designed primarily for comfort and practicality. It’s travel friendly.”
