Irish influencer pooches star in RTE documentary

MEET the adorable pooch who is fast gaining a reputation as the Kim Kardashian of the canine world.

Luna the Cavachon is making waves on social media securing her place as a four-legged fashion influencer.

Her owner, Hailey-rose Lynch, 25, hinted Hollywood could be next as she’s in talks for a modelling and movie contract for her beloved companion.

She told the Irish Sunday Mirror: “I never pictured her dressing up, was just for the odd photo, then it just kicked off.

“Because she was so tiny as a puppy I just felt guilty that we had coats, hats and scarves so I got her a coat.

“She actually has pyjamas, she refuses to go out to the potty if it’s too cold.

“I might put a coat on her or her little onesie, to protect her from the rain and mud – if I put that on her she will go out.

“She has a dress for Halloween, she doesn’t mind. The only thing she doesn’t like is bows or anything in her hair, so I respect that.

“If I put a bow in it’s gone in five seconds.”

And Hailey-rose explained the pooch has “her own wardrobe for her dresses to be hung in”.

She said: “Wait til you see her birthday party, all her besties are coming, there’ll be party bags. It might look silly to you but Luna is getting the best 15 years.

“She’s such a wonderful being, I actually don’t like calling her a dog – I feel odd about the word, she’s my baby and she’s a family member.” At just 18 months, trendsetter Luna has amassed harnesses, bandanas, dresses, jumpers and coats, but Hailey-rose said most items are sent to her for free.

She revealed: “Last June I started her Instagram page as a keepsake of her life. I ordered a dog tag from an Irish business.

“I made a reel of Luna opening the tag as a puppy and it just blew up, the company asked me to be a brand ambassador.

“Another company saw it and asked, now Luna is a brand ambassador for five or six companies.

“I’ll post a product not knowing the impact – the amount of messages I’ve got from people.

“We do canine enrichment and dog safety as well, dognapping security.”

Hailey-rose and Luna, who live in Raheny, North Dublin, feature in the documentary Hashtag Dogs, which airs on RTE on Monday.

She said: “The director had a soft spot for her, he just fell in love with her. She’s a huge personality.

“I’m in contact with a company interested in signing Luna as a dog model and actor, that is our next project.” On a more serious note, Hailey-rose told how Luna “saved” her as the pandemic lockdowns sent her into a deep depression. Her mother was bitten as a child and never allowed pets in the home but relented when she saw her daughter struggle. Hailey-rose said: “I’m an opera singer and when I finished my degree in Trinity the plan was to travel, but I couldn’t. I stayed to do my Masters but I got very down – every time I opened my mouth to practise I would just cry. I couldn’t sing I was so down.

“I suppose it was meant to be... she’s even brought the family together as everything revolves around her.

“Everything has gone up since Luna trotted into our lives.”

Hashtag Dogs airs Monday at 9.35pm on RTE One and RTE Player.
