LEAM RICHARDSON was keeping a sense of perspective after Wigan went ninth following their fourth straight away win against managerless Rotherham.

Goals in each half by Will Keane and Tom Naylor propelled the Latics to within two points of the top six with a game in hand.

Richardson praised the way his side managed the game in the second half where the Millers created little despite plenty of possession.

The team now faces 11 games in 39 days and Richardson said: “That’s the task, that’s where the staff and players need to work hard, because you can’t get emotionally attached to every team selection, to every game, to every result.

“You’ve got to stay at a level and don’t get too high when you win and don’t get too low when you lose.”

Keane swept Charlie Wyke’s low ball high into the net for his fourth of the season.

The hosts came closest when Jack Whatmough headed Chieo Ogbene’s goalbound shot away from underneath his own bar before Naylor nodded home to seal the points.

It was the Millers’ first game since former boss Paul Warne’s exit with Exeter manager Matt Taylor claiming he’d been approached and would make a decision within 24 hours.

“I have a decision to make and I’ll be making that decision within the next 24 hours,” Taylor said after the Grecians’ 2-2 draw with Bristol Rovers. “I have been approached.” ROTHERHAM: Johansson 6; Hall 6, Wood 6, Harding 6; Barlaser 6 (Kelly (87) 6); Nortoncuffy 7, Wiles 6, Rathbone 7 (Lindsay (64) 6), Bramall 6 (Ferguson (86) 6); Ogbene 6, Washington 6 (Eaves (64) 6) WIGAN: Amos 7; Nyambe 7, Whatmough 7, Tilt 7, Mcclean 7; Power 7, Naylor 7; Broadhead 7 (Shinnie (86) 6), Keane 8, Aasgaard 7 (Darikwa (79) 6); Wyke 7 (Magennis (79) 6) STAR MAN: Will Keane – Scored the opener and was composed throughout, always looking to create an opening.
