Unit confirmed no such investigation was taking place. Woods, of New Longton, near Preston, pleaded guilty to three counts of making indecent images, possessing a prohibited image of a child, and possessing extreme pornography.
As well as the 16-month sentence, suspended for two years, he was ordered to complete 180 hours of unpaid work and attend rehabilitation.
Announcing the decision this week, Chief Constable Stephen Watson said: “He stands rightly convicted as a sex offender with his career in ruination.”
Woods was also barred from police service.
A POLICE inspector is being investigated for gross misconduct over a series of “abusive and misogynistic” tweets – including saying a Sarah Everard activist should have been “thrown in the sea at high tide”.
Inspector Phil Grimwade, of Nottinghamshire Police, faces a hearing and is on restricted duties after a complaint was made about more than 40 of his tweets over the last two years.
These include a reply to a 2021 tweet about heavy handed policing of the Sarah Everard vigil in London at which Patsy Stevenson was bundled to the ground.
Mr Grimwade, 47, said of Ms Stevenson: “She’s from
Southend. Should have thrown her in the sea at high tide.” In other tweets he calls her a “narcissist” and other women “batsh** crazy” and “thick as pig sh**”.
Ex-met officer Alice Vinten, 41, who made the complaint against Mr Grimwade, said his tweets were appalling, adding: “It’s part and parcel of the rotten culture at the heart of policing that needs overhauling.
“He is essentially bullying people with his tweets and acting like he’s untouchable - as if he can behave how he wants without any consideration for the fact that he is representing a police force.”
Nottinghamshire Police confirmed it was investigating. Mr Grimwade was contacted for comment.
