NETFLIX’S reality show spin-off of gruesome survival drama Squid Game has seen its first horror injury – after one of the crew broke her leg in a fall.

Witnesses were heard shrieking as they saw the woman plummet, bringing filming to a standstill.

One insider told the Sunday Mirror: “It was horrible. People saw the woman fall, and then hit the ground, and she was crying out in pain.

“It was clear her leg was badly damaged.”

The woman was treated on set before being whisked off to hospital.

The fall is the first serious accident to hit the show – a real-life version of the South Korean drama starring Lee Jung-jae, in which contestants face death while playing children’s games for a cash bounty.

With the largest cast in reality TV history, the 456 players of Squid Game: The Challenge are chasing a real-life prize of nearly £4million.

The streaming giant has promised the worst fate contestants face “is going home empty-handed”.

Studio for first game

Last month it was revealed some of the 456 had suffered suspected hypothermia after spending hours motionless in -3C in a bid to win the Red Light, Green Light game. Netflix bosses confirmed three had received medical attention at Cardington Studios, near Bedford, but said no one was seriously injured. The insider said of the woman’s fall at the studio in Barking, East London, where the latest segment is being filmed: “Everyone was incredibly concerned, she was ashen-faced.” A spokesman for the show said: “We care deeply about the health of our cast and crew. As you would expect of any private medical matter, we aren’t able to share more details.”
