MCCLAIR: WINNING IS A HABIT

EXCLUSIVE BY MANCHESTER UNITED legend Brian Mcclair knows what it is like to be a winner.

And he hopes the Red Devils can land their second piece of silverware under new boss Erik ten Hag by winning the FA Cup.

“I wanted to win Scottish Cup finals when I was up in Scotland, but winning something for Manchester United for the first time was always going to be a great event and something to cherish, especially at Wembley,” said Mcclair (below with Fergie), ahead of United’s home quarterfinal clash with Fulham today.

“It was Bryan Robson who said to me, ‘Enjoy this, because we might never come back here’.

“He said to try and cherish every moment. Winning was the most important thing — and that kickstarted something for us.

“Winning trophies becomes a habit — that was always at the forefront of Sir Alex Ferguson’s mind.

“He’d been a serial winner with St Mirren and Aberdeen — he was proven to be correct.”

And seeing United beat Newcastle United to win the League Cup last month was a moment to savour.

Looking ahead to United’s clash with the Cottagers, Mcclair said: “Things are going a lot better than I expected. You’d think United would be favourites for the weekend because they’re playing at home — and there’s this continual drive to finish in the top four.

“And I’m happy they’re trying to win things by playing the strongest team available.”
