Dreams can come true says Robins

- REF:

MARK ROBINS has told his Coventry players to dare to dream after they boosted their Championship play-off chances with an emphatic victory that deepened Blackpool’s relegation fears.

City overcame a couple of scares to extend their unbeaten run to nine matches – with captain Kyle Mcfadzean lashing in a stunner to put them in control as he atoned for giving away a first-half penalty.

Coventry are now just three points outside the top six with eight games left – and Robins said: “You’ve just got to dare to dream. We’ve still got some unbelievably difficult games.

“We’ve got a break now for the internationals, and I’m going to give the players some time off.”

Coventry had a shaky start as a slip by Fankaty Dabo allowed in CJ Hamilton to hit the post.

Ben Sheaf marked his 100th game for the Sky Blues by firing into the corner after being set up by Viktor Gyokeres.

Coventry then lost their way as Mcfadzean hauled down Manchester City loanee Morgan Rogers, allowing Jerry Yates to equalise from the spot.

But then Gustavo Hamer’s corner in first-half stoppage time was missed by keeper Chris Maxwell and turned into his own net by Curtis Nelson, and the visitors never looked back.

Mcfadzean hammered a superb third after the break, when Rogers failed to clear a free-kick from Hamer, who later rolled in substitute Matt Godden to stroke in a fourth.

Blackpool boss Mick Mccarthy said: “I didn’t see that result coming in the first half.” BLACKPOOL: Maxwell 5; Nelson 5, Thorniley 6 (Dougall (10) 6), Husband 6; Connolly 6; Lyons 6, Fiorini 6 (Anderson (59) 5), Patino 6 (Carey (59) 5), Hamilton 6 (Poveda (80) 5); Yates 6, Rogers 6 (Bowler (80) 6) COVENTRY: Wilson 6; Mcnally 7, Mcfadzean 7, Doyle 7; Dabo 7 (Nortoncuffy (65) 7), Eccles 7, Sheaf 7, Hamer 8 (Maguire (90) 6), Bidwell 7 (Wilsonesbrand (90) 6); Walker 7 (Godden (65) 7), Gyokeres 6 STAR MAN: Gustavo Hamer – Dutch midfielder played a part in three goals and his passing was superb.
