My Royal haha-ness!

-

I DO follow the Royals.. not like a loon but I dip in and out and see what shenanigans they are up to.

I have a fondness for them, mainly for work reasons.

Well, for starters… my ears prick up when I hear Harry and Meghan’s names, purely because a few weeks back I got the shock of my life.

My phone was off the hook with people texting me to say I was in their Netflix documentary. As in whaaat? Are you kidding me?

I was in my Marigolds scrubbing off dried-in mould (midrenovation of a 70s house) when my former Xpose producer sent me a still from his TV of me roaring laughing opposite Meghan.

I was flabbergasted. I had no idea. There I am with my big laugh with the mic in tow from our Xpose interview in Dublin in 2014.

Granted, I was in a montage of ‘happy media memories’ about her fame pre Prince Harry but I mean, I suppose a wee call to check I was cool with it would have been nice, rather than just land up on a million TV screens.

Sure listen... aren’t I grand with it?.. I have to be... I got the nod plus its nice that she thought enough of my interview for it to make the cut.

My second reason for Keeping up with the Royals is that I have been reporting for ITV’S This Morning on the Queen’s death and King’s coronation.

I loved it and it was great going live into Holly and Phillip’s ears..

I’m thinking now with the

coronation coming up and 2,000 guests invited what will I be reporting on and WHO more importantly will have secured a much-coveted place at Westminster Abbey on May 6?

My instincts are that with the news of Prince George chosen to be page of honour there will be no place for Harry and Meghan.

Of all the boys who will carry the royal robes into Westminster Abbey choosing him demonstrate

Charles and Camilla’s determination to put loyal family and friends at the heart of this historic occasion.

How will ‘The Spare’ feel about that? Hard to know. I’m sure while William and Kate were touched that King Charles wants his cute nine-year-old grandson to play such a significant role, they would want to ensure that George would feel ready for the public scrutiny. There will be a

billion eyeballs on him, a young kid under the glare of the world stage – risky business.

Family drama aside, personally I think it is very touching to give George a role to play at his grandfather’s coronation.

Grandads are the best, and from the outset it seems that Charles and little George are very close.
