THE mum of murdered boxer Kevin Sheehy has branded his killer a “demon” as she hit out at a decision to send him to a UK jail to serve out his sentence.

Tracey Tully, 45, said she would “never get over” the loss of her son who died after being repeatedly struck by a 4x4 jeep driven by Logan Jackson from Coventry, England. Jackson, 31, was jailed for life in December 2021 and applied for a transfer to a UK jail just 23 days into his term. Heartbroken Tracey, 45, told Coventrylive: “Kevin died on July 1 [2019] and his daughter was born on August 2. He never got to see his little girl. “He was such a lovely person, a lovely human being and he had his whole life ahead of him. His dream for the Olympics was taken from him that night.” Last year,

Tracey was granted permission to legally challenge the Justice Minister’s decision to sanction Logan’s transfer application.

The case was struck out after the then Justice Minister Helen Mcentee rescinded the transfer approval – but last month Jackson was given the go-ahead for the jail move.

Claiming the decision was taken “underhandedly”, Tracey said: “Logan was taken out of the country very quickly and we do not know why.

“I want to know and I want to ask my own Minister for Justice, ‘Why?’ I felt gaslighted by the whole lot of it. It is very strange.

“I feel very let down by our own Government and disgusted at the fact that we had to go through this. He mowed my son down. “He came back three times to do this to my beautiful boy, a kind-hearted person.” Tracey maintains Jackson should serve his sentence in Ireland where he killed her son and “not where he chooses to end up”. She added: “He has to have evil in him, my son met a demon that night. I will never ever get over it, ever.” Convicted murderer Jackson had reportedly been under 23-hour lock up at Limerick Prison amid threats on his life from other prisoners. He was moved to a prison in England on March 13 after a security assessment found risks to his safety and the safety of prison staff would persist at any Irish jail. A spokesman for the Department of Justice said: “Minister [Simon] Harris is acutely aware that this development has been difficult for the family of Kevin Sheehy.”
