PRICE RING REWARD IS DOUBLED

Daughter raises fee to €6,800

THE daughter of Drogheda gang boss Cornelius Price has doubled a reward for the return of the late criminal’s gold ring.

Alisha Price is offering £6,000 (€6,800) to anyone who gives the bespoke piece of jewellery back to his family.

Mobster Price - chief suspect in at least three murders - died in hospital in Wales in February after suffering the brain disease limbic encephalitis.

His daughter had previously offered a reward of £3,000 for the ring, which had been worn by Price’s son, but doubled it after nobody came forward with information.

Alisha said the ring had gone missing following her father’s funeral at the Rochdale Catholic Club.

Posting a picture of the chunky gold band on Facebook she wrote: “Someone has it. I am putting the reward up to £6k.

“The ring is five ounces you can’t miss it. Hand it back no questions asked.

“My brother last had it at Rochdale Catholic Club on the 6th of March, on the day of my dad’s funeral.

“It is a man who’s passed away ring, no one will ever have a day’s luck having this ring.”

Price, who fled his Co Meath compound in 2020, was facing trial in the UK for his alleged part in a kidnap and blackmail plot.

He became ill in October 2021 with a brain disease and never stood trial.

He fled to the UK shortly after the gruesome murder and dismemberment of Drogheda teen Keane Mulready-woods by slain serial killer Robbie Lawlor amid threats on his life.

Gardai believe Price was directly behind the ruthless murders of couple Willie Maughan, 34, and his pregnant partner Ana Varslavane, 21, on April 14, 2015.

He is alleged to have ordered their murders and the subsequent disposing

of their remains in order to protect his drug empire.

The couple were last seen on Price’s compound in Gormanstown before it is believed their remains were cremated.

Price is said to have frequently boasted about the couple’s murder and claimed that their bodies would never be found.

The depraved mobster, who escaped justice for the murders, is believed to have ordered the couple’s killing in a disgusting attempt to protect his drug empire.

Gardai suspect Willie and his girlfriend were murdered on the orders of Cornelius Price because he had too much information about the murder of Benny Whitehouse.

In an affidavit recently filed with the High Court as part of a Criminal Assets Bureau case against mobster Owen Maguire and his brother Brendan, a Garda Detective Inspector said: “It is my belief that members of the Price-maguire OGC carried out the double murder.

“Both William and Anastasija were last seen alive at a property belonging to Mr Price.”
