UNLIKELY scoring hero Timothy Castagne gave Leicester’s survival hopes the kiss of life under new boss Dean Smith.

It had been a baptism of fire for Smith when the former Aston Villa and Norwich boss took over the Foxes reins at Manchester City a week earlier.

And it didn’t get much better when Youri Tielemans inadvertently set up Wolves for a 13thminute opener.

But back came an outplayed Leicester to bounce out of the bottom three and set themselves up nicely for another relegation rumble at Leeds on Tuesday night.

Smith said: “It’s a massive win and one we’ve needed given our current run of form. It shows a lot of character and spirit as well. We need to keep climbing out of there and we’ve got another big game coming up.”

Wolves, who haven’t

completely extricated themselves from the relegation battle, have only themselves to blame for failing to make it count when they were on top.

Manager Julen Lopetegui said: “We are frustrated that we didn’t get anything positive here.

“We have to recover very fast. We have to continue working.”

The Leicester clappers which always make this ground a cacophony of noise had fallen silent when Tielemans was mugged by Mario Lemina who set up Matheus Cunha for a clinical finish.

Jamie Vardy might not be the force he once was but what is not in dispute is his gusty determination to help the Foxes’ cause.

In the 34th minute the clock was turned back as the former England man spurted into the box and was caught by Jose Sa’s clumsy challenge.
