Corberan’s hoping to steer clear of Cats’ eyes in road

-

WEST BROM boss Carlos Corberan is revving his side up ahead of a crunch week in the Championship promotion race.

The Baggies host Sunderland today before a trip to Sheffield United on Wednesday and a home game with Norwich on Saturday.

They have only lost twice since the start of March and Corberan said: “I am the mechanic of the West Brom car, no? I need to see if I need more petrol or more oil in it.

“For the next game, the car needs to be full – full of petrol – and at the end it needs to be empty.

“We cannot go into this game thinking we can leave it with the tank half-full. It’s impossible. No way.

“We need to bring a lot of energy to this game. It’s going to be very challenging.”

West Brom have been fielding calls to ramp up The Hawthorns’ atmosphere by bringing back pre-match song ‘The Liquidator.’

The 1969 hit by The Harry J All Stars was a favourite over a number of years but had to be canned due to unsavoury lyrics that accompanied the instrumental. But it is pumped out of the public address system on special occasions – such as the Championship play-off game against Aston Villa four years ago.

Requests are under consideration by the club’s top brass ahead of a fixture that will have a huge bearing on whether the Baggies can cement a place in the top six.

Sunderland boss Tony Mowbray said: “I think it will be a really good game.

“I am sure we will take an enormous number of people along to support us.

“We need to know that when that stadium is near full, it’s an amazing place to play football.”
