ELAINE CROWLEY has opened up on a “difficult” year admitting she regrets not moving abroad when she was younger.

The Ireland AM presenter has been reflecting on the past and wondering what her life could have been like if she’d made different choices.

She told RSVP magazine: “I had opportunities to work abroad about 15 years ago. I’m sorry I didn’t do that.

“I always put my career first and I probably wouldn’t do that again either.

“I have many regrets and whether or not they would have made any difference to the life I have now, who knows?

“It could all have turned out the same way or a hell of a lot worse.”

Cork native Elaine, 45, recently returned from a well-earned break in Thailand and said she has found peace after a difficult 10 months.

She said: “The place fills my soul with peace. Whenever I am at my lowest ebb I head there and it restores and recharges me in a way that I just can’t explain.

“The last 10 months or so I have been struggling and finding it hard to see any positivity... that is why I needed to go.”

She added: “I always thought gratitude was a load of bull, but I don’t think that any more. I am now focusing on the [cup] half full instead of half empty. “I have so much to be grateful for.” When it comes to her love life, the straight-talking telly favourite said meeting someone is the last thing on her list of priorities.

Elaine revealed she had tried dating app Bumble for a while but came off it because nobody thought it was her.

She said: “I don’t think you can tell from a picture or from chatting online. I would have to meet somebody that I get on really well with at this stage.

“I have been treated badly and I have treated people badly when it comes to relationships.

“What comes around goes around – maybe I am too selfish at this stage to want to share my life completely.

“I believe you have to retain some of your independence.”
