Dream job? Corset is!
The other thing giving Mel B positive vibes at the moment is Queen of the Universe. She was so determined to throw herself into the Paramount+ show that she even agreed to wear a corset. Mel tells us: “The highlight is getting to know the queens – where they’ve come from, how they got into drag. “We got to be part of their family, their world, and found out what it’s all about. “For example, I’d never worn a corset… I ended up wearing one for two episodes. I was thinking, ‘How the hell do you lot breathe?’ But my attitude was, they’re in drag, all sucked in at the waist so I’m going
GLITZY to join in. And it did make my waist look good.” The series, returning for a second season with host Graham Norton, sees drag queens from around the world sing live for a $250,000 prize. Former X Factor judge Mel joins Trixie Mattel, Vanessa Williams and Michelle Visage on the panel. She adds: “It’s fascinating how the queens hold it all together, every head shake, every handshake… it’s all thoroughly thought out. If it’s not, they go home so the pressure’s on. “I’m so glad to be on it… I couldn’t hold back my excitement in filming. “I was saying to the others, ‘How can you just sit down? They’re amazing! And we have the best seat in the house’. “I was the new girl in this series, so it’s up to them if they ask me back.
