Andre admits his Terriers lack bite

- REF:

HUDDERSFIELD boss Andre Breitenreiter admitted his troubled team gave a performance unworthy of the Championship.

The Terriers are staring relegation in the face after a late defensive horror show, with Swansea subs wreaking havoc.

Swansea had little to play for but were a credit to the division – winning duels as well as playing possession football.

Among Huddersfield fans, chants of “you’re not fit to wear the shirt” were heard at the end.

Breitenreiter – who pointed out Swansea’s bigger budget – said: “I admit the performance was poor, not good enough for the league.

“The quality is not high enough. After falling behind, it’s clear it’s not the right reaction.”

Swansea’s Liam Cullen headed wide a first-half sitter, so it was 0-0 at the break. He came close again early in the second half, when he struck the post with a 20-yard curler.

There were Huddersfield claims for handball outside the box when Swansea keeper Carl Rushworth charged out. Swansea then struck first when Jamal Lowe curled in.

The Welsh club then bagged a route-one goal as Rushworth’s long ball was picked up by Josh Tymon and he set up Ronald.

Jerry Yates rubbed salt in the wounds by tapping in after a cross wasn’t cleared.

It got worse when Liam Walsh curled home a 25-yard beauty.

Swansea boss Luke Williams said: “We’ve been guilty at times previously of scoring and then trying to protect the lead – today we were ruthless.” HUDDERSFIELD: Nicholls 5; Pearson 5, Helik 6, Lees 6 (Jackson (88) 5), Spencer 5 (Headley (60) 5); Matos 5 (Healey (61) 6), Kasumu 5; Thomas 6, Rudoni 7, Koroma 6; Burgzorg 5 (Ward (60) 7) SWANSEA: Rushworth 6; Key 7, Cabango 6, Darling 6, Tymon 8; Fulton 6 (Walsh (66) 7), Grimes 6; Ronald 7 (Abdulai (87) 8), Cooper 6 (Lowe (65) 8), Paterson 6 (Patino (74) 6); Cullen 5 (Yates (66) 7) STAR MAN: Josh Tymon – The left-back produced some threatening touches and running, including the assist for the killer second goal.
