Lourdes Youth Choir launch their fantastic new CD
THE Lourdes Youth choir will launch their new CD “Manus Salvus” (Safe Hands) on Tuesday 24 th of April 7.30pm in the Lourdes church.
Last February one of their members was diagnosed with MS and as a way to support her, this CD was a venture the girls took on. It is a five track CD all pieces chosen by the member and her family. The money raised through the sale of this CD will go towards treatment required during relapses and a donation in December 2018 to MS Louth.
Grease in the Barbican
REHEARSALS are well underway for the musical version of Grease. The Transition Year students from St Joseph’s and Our Lady’s Greenhills are performing this amazing show at the Barbican Centre on Wednesday 9th May and Friday 11th May. Admission tickets are available from the school office at a cost of €10 per person or a family ticket for €35 (2 adults and 2 children).
The musical is set in 1959 at fictional Rydell High School, Chicago. It follows ten working-class teenagers as they navigate the complexities of peer pressure, politics, personal core values, and love.
This is a major production for the staff and students of St. Joseph’s and the TY girls from Greenhills College.

Blues legends game
IT should be quite a day on Saturday April 28 when the Newtown Blues legends take to the field as a fundraiser for the Feile U14 boys and Girls.. JOIN the talented Youth workers at Boomerang on Fridays from 4 – 6pm for some great Jamming Sessions & Musical Appreciation. They have a fantastic practice space where you can meet other musicians and share your learning resources and methods with the aim towards doing performances. Land of Legends 8k
The Gary Kelly Cancer Support Centre Land of Legends 8K takes place in the picturesque village of Clogherhead on September 2. The course incorporates the beach, headland, farmlands, harbour and pier.
You can run, jog, walk or crawl the 8km route to become a Legend! While on route you will encounter natural and man-made obstacles.
The 27th Infantry Battalion will put you through your paces on the beach (no mercy shown here) followed by the Farmer’s Pyramids – dizzy heights. Yes, there is a swamp, water and muck in abundance. AND - the Piece de Resistance – the Harbour challenge.
It all starts at 11am and there’s Chip Timing on the day. The first 300 registered will be guaranteed a top quality technical t-shirt.

THE annual golf classic in aid of the Drogheda Branch of the Alzheimer Society will take place at the Laytown and Bettystown golf club on Friday, May 18.
The cost of entry per four-member team is €160. Tee times before 11am include a free breakfast.

The Drogheda Gardening Club will be running their annual five day trip to West Cork & Kerry on 27th of May, and returning on Friday the 1st of June. Staying at the Talbot Hotel in Macroom, price includes 4 nights’ bed and breakfast and evening meal each night.
