Two ac­cused of pos­sess­ing steel bat and pick­axe han­dles

TWO men have ap­peared in court ac­cused of pos­sess­ing of­fen­sive weapons in Drogheda.

Bren­dan Maguire (39), St. An­thony’s Park, Ce­ment Road, Drogheda and Mark Ka­vanagh (30), Av­enue One, Yel­low­bat­ter, Drogheda are charged with hav­ing in a pub­lic place, with­out law­ful or rea­son­able ex­cuse a steel base­ball bat and two large plas­tic pick­axe han­dles, made for caus­ing in­jury to a per­son, at St. An­thony’s Park on 31 Oc­to­ber last.

Crim­i­nal dam­age charge

A third man, Luke Maguire (38), St. An­thony’s Park, also ap­peared be­fore last Wed­nes­day’s sit­ting of Dun­dalk court.

He is charged with caus­ing crim­i­nal dam­age to the win­dows of a Volk­swa­gen Polo at St. An­thony’s Park, on 9 Novem­ber last.

Judge Cough­lan was told the three de­fen­dants were ar­rested ear­lier on the morn­ing of Wed­nes­day, 28 Novem­ber.

All three were re­manded on con­di­tional bail to Drogheda Court on 18 Jan­uary next.
