MANY tributes were paid to Noel Connolly at our annual general meeting. Noel stood down as chairman having been in the post for five years. During his time the club competed at the very top, winning promotion from intermediate and reaching the senior final.
Plans were also put in place for improvements to Pairc na nGaeil, and it was on the day before the meeting that work began on the project which is expected to be completed before the beginning of next season.
Noel thanked all who had helped and supported him since he succeeded Niall Lambert. He urged members to get involved in the different projects the club had in mind for the new season, and to help out in whatever way they can.
Taking over as chairman is Dick O’Callaghan, who was in the post twice in previous years, the first time in the 1980s.
The meeting was one of the best attended in recent years, with many contributions from the floor. Treasurer, Alan Martin, presented a very detailed report, which showed the club to be in a sound financial position.
