Large trees are cut back at De La Salle amidst safety fears

A NUM­BER of trees at De La Salle Cres­cent in Ardee have been cut back due to con­cerns ex­pressed by some lo­cal res­i­dents.

‘It was some­thing I raised at a re­cent coun­cil meet­ing after be­ing con­tacted by res­i­dents,’ Cllr Dolores Minogue stated.

There were fears that branches could come down in win­ter storms so ex­perts ar­rived on scene last week and com­menced the works.

Tick­ets are only €10 and it goes ahead in the Glyde Rangers hall on Satur­day Fe­bru­ary 9th at 8pm. It’s a Lip Synce Bat­tle re­union night.

THE re­main­ing 22 houses in the Castle­guard es­tate in Ardee are to be de­liv­ered by March. To date, Tuath has built 80 of the homes.

ARDEE is set to be­come part of the Ir­ish Walled Towns se­ries again after a lapse of a few years. Cllr Dolores Minogue raised the is­sue re­cently and the coun­cil says it was an over­sight that the town was not part of the or­gan­sa­tion.

LOUTH County Coun­cil are to con­sider putting a HAP clinic in Ardee, if re­sources al­low. Cllr Jim Tenanty says there is a need for it. Cllr Pearse McGeough agrees, but the coun­cil said it would in­volv­ing re­lo­cat­ing staff to Ardee. They will see if there’s ca­pac­ity to do some­thing.

SQUARE United held their an­nual Chicken Cup match re­cently be­tween the 1sts and the Re­serves. Af­ter­wards, they held their awards. Young Player of the year is Trevor Matthews. 2nd team player of the year Liam Far­rell. 1st team player of the year Paudy Clarke and Club Per­son of the year Mark Bradley. The first team are back in the Pre­nier Divi­sion this sea­son.

THE Glyde Inn - Ire­land’s top pub - is host­ing a num­ber of great events in the com­ing weeks and months.

March 1st: The Leg­end of Luke Kelly Show with Chris Ka­vanagh & Band. Tick­ets €25.

Ardee Celtic are look­ing to ex­pand their Girls Only Soc­cer sec­tion.

With an All Girls Louth League to be in­tro­duced in 2019 at age groups from u8 u10 & u12 they are cur­rently re­cruit­ing play­ers bornin2007to2012.

This will add to their al­ready ever grow­ing and suc­cess­ful girls squads at u13 and u15. If in­ter­ested, con­tact 086 371 4008 .

The count­down is on for the Ardee Traders Din­ner Dance in Brian Mul­doon & Sons Bar & Restau­rant on Satur­day Jan­uary 12.

The group will have ex­c­clu­sive use of the venue for the night and the newly re­fur­bished Luna Night­club is also ex­clu­sively their for the af­ters, so there will be lots of room for danc­ing. The Band and DJ (ODDTIME) are booked and tick­ets are priced at €35.

As usual, it prom­ises to be a great night.
