A LOCAL RESIDENT had to be taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital for treatment after an attack on a home at Moorehall Close in Ardee.

He told gardai that two males tried to set fire to his car. Also, a suspect object, believed to be a petrol bomb, was thrown at a house but did not cause damage or ignite.

The man later complained of feeling unwell and had to be removed to hospital for treatment.

No arrests have been made and investigations are ongoing. The incident, at 2am on December 31, has shocked local residents in the quiet area.

‘People are worried,’ Cllr Dolores Minogue stated. ‘I’d appeal for people to contact the gardai if they have any information in relation to this incident.’

Drogheda has hit the headlines in recent months where similar attacks have taken place on vehicles and homes. At a recent meeting of the Joint Policing Committee in Drogheda, it was revealed that elements of a feud in Drogheda had spread to Ardee and parts of Dundalk.
