Following his very successful cabaret last year, the community of Mulrankin are delighted to announce that Michael English and his band will be returning to Clayton Whites hotel this year on Thursday, November 30, in concert with special guest Brendan Shine. Tickets cost €22.50 and it promises to be another great night if last year is anything to go by.

We’re very lucky to be part of Michael’s concert tour this year, he’s starting in the Olympia on October 11 and finishing with us in Wexford on November 30, all his concert tour dates will be advertised nationwide in the national papers and also through his own website so demand is going to be high.

SPUD FEST

‘The Players’ were delighted to be asked to perform their comedy sketches at the Spud Fest party in Kilmore on Tuesday, August 15. We really enjoyed the night and we say a big thank you to the committee for the delicious food.

AUTUMN FUNDRAISER

St Fintan’s autumn fundraiser, ‘the F factor’, will take place mid November. The club is currently looking for contestant­s who are willing to strut their stuff and show their talents on the night. There will be a lead up of various fundraisin­g events which the different contestant­s will run off to raise funds for the clubs. Anyone interested in taking part or helping out in any way just get in touch with any of the club commitee or secretary Sharon Pettit. Watch this space for details of contestant­s and events in the lead up to the grand finale night.

AUSSIE BOUND

St Fintan’s man Shane ‘fingers’ Sinnott sets off on his travels to Australia with his good friend Aaron Devereux this week. The club wishes him well knowing that fellow club man Ciaran ‘Gooch’ Wright will be looking after him on the other side of the world. Stay safe Shane and enjoy.

TOMHAGGARD FUN RUN

The Tomhaggard Fun Run/ Walk takes place on Sunday, September 3, at 11 a.m. (postponed from July 2 Leinster hurling final). It’s a great family occasion suitable for runners, walkers, joggers, buggies, dogs (on lead), kids bicycles etc, all abilities welcome. The new scouting year starts in a few weeks. It’s a great associatio­n suitable for all ages, with new skills such as camping, cooking, first aid, hill walking, pioneering etc, learned in a fun, non-competitiv­e environmen­t indoors and outdoors.

FINTAN’S 70TH

Welcome to T’Hooley in T’haggard. A Party to celebrate Fintan’s 70th Birthday. It takes place on Sunday, August 27, 2.30 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Tomhaggard Social Centre. Music by Adrian Ryan. There’s Social, Old time, Ceile and Modern dance with a set or two. Terms and conditions apply – no presents please. However, there will be an opportunit­y to support two local community groups – Refurbishm­ent and upgrade of Ballycogle­y Hall and Tomhaggard Social Centre.

ST FINTAN’S LADIES

The under-12 girls played Ballyhogue in the county semi-final in Ballymore in conditions that were similar to a November evening. The girls were not shaken by this, they played their hearts out with strength and determinat­ion, working the ball and playing superb football, their work rate, team spirit and self belief is a credit to them, and were rewarded with a victory they deserved. They now march on to a county final v Bannow-Ballymitty on September 3. Keep girls you can do it.

What a fantastic time was had by all at the camp. Thanks to Aaron, Ben, Ashley, Rory, Louis and Liam from Swansea City FC. It was great to see them again. Thanks to all who helped out on the days before and on the days of the camp. Most importantl­y thanks to all the girls and boys who participat­ed, your attitude and energy was super and your behaviour was excellent. Looking forward to next year already.

HARVEST FESTIVAL

PLAYSCHOOL

Cleariesto­wn playschool will reopen on Wednesday, August 30, at 9.30 a.m. Please note this is the day before the National school but in line with the ECCE Calender. Enrolments will take place on the morning. Children will not need to bring any snack with them as this will be provided. The day will end at 12.30 p.m.
