THANK YOU
Sr Nuala Glynn of the Franciscan Missionaries Limerick has written to thank the people of Rosbercon Parish for their great generosity to her appeal for financial help recently when she addressed the congregation. A fine sum of €1,925 was subscribed and Sr Nuala was thrilled with response and stated that all money raised would be used to great effect in the war-torn countries where the Franciscan’s operate.
SAFEGUARDING CHILDREN
The Ossory Diocesan Safeguarding Committee for children have designated the weekend of seventh/October 8 as ‘Safeguarding Sunday’ throughout the diocese of Ossory. A Diocesan Safeguarding newsletter will be available in all parishes over this weekend.
Also, a Policy and Standards Summary leaflet will be placed in all churches together with a Parish Notice which bears the names of Safeguarding Representatives for each parish.
HEAVY DEFEAT
The Tullogher-Rosbercon Intermediate hurlers suffered a heavy defeat in their first round of the Kilkenny Championship replay against Lisdowney. They had their chance the first day when leading by two points as the game ticked into extra time but strange changes to the team then did not work and Lisdowney popped over a brace of points to draw level.
This time the team from the North had all the answers and ran out 2-22 to 1-14 winners against it must be said a very disappointing showing from Tullogher where only the lion hearted Pat Hartley played up to form. Only consolation is that they preserved their intermediate status for 2018.
