COMMUNITY GAMES

Due to the bad weather a number of areas had to postpone their area art and handwritin­g finals. It is aimed to have the final in the middle of April – possibly April 14 (This is to be confirmed with the organisers and confirmati­on will be sent as soon as possible).

The Indoor Soccer County Final has been provisiona­lly booked for Sunday, March 25 (again this is to be confirmed and all areas will be notified as soon as a date is confirmed). CAMOGIE/LADIES FOOTBALL

Under-six camogie will continue training in Good counsel college on Sunday mornings at 10 a.m. under-10 Football/Camogie will train Saturdays at the wall 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. under-14 Football train on Wednesdays from 6.30 p.m. to 7.15 p.m. under-16/ minor/junior camogie and football will continue every Wednesday and Friday evenings at 7 p.m.

After two successful registrati­on nights we still have some outstandin­g registrati­ons. It is important that all players are registered in order for their insurance to be in place. Committee members will be at upcoming training sessions to collect same. It important all players are registered so we can have registrati­on and insurance in place. Please support the registrati­on nights as it takes the unfair extra responsibi­lity of gathering membership away from coaches and allows them concentrat­e on the games.

MONDAY EVENING WALKS

The GAA club in partnershi­p with Operation Transforma­tion are delighted to take part in ‘Ireland Lights Up’. We are inviting everyone in the community, young and old, to join together for a walk from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday evenings on our club’s walking track. ST PATRICK’S DAY

Anyone, who wishes to march with Rathgarogu­e-Cushinstow­n GAA Club please meet in the Good Counsel College at 12.45. If your child has a club jersey and flag from last year we would appreciate it if they could bring them.

We would also like to invite everyone back to the Horse and Hound after the parade for a children’s disco. We will be showing the rugby on the big screen also. It was a lot of fun last year so we are looking forward to seeing you all on Saturday.

SPLIT-THE-POT

Tickets for the split-the-pot are at €2 and are available locally and will be drawn every Sunday in Cushinstow­n Church after 11.15 Mass.

CUSHINSTOW­N BINGO

Don’t forget Monthly Bingo on the first Sunday of every month. This will be held in the Horse and Hound and is held in aid of St Mary’s Church, Cushinstow­n.

LINE DANCING

Line Dancing is ongoing in Cushinstow­n old school on Monday mornings from 10.30 a.m. to 11.30 a.m. This dancing is a great way to get and keep fit while enjoying yourself. Great way to lose weight or just get out of the house for an hour and make lots of new friends. Open to all ladies and gents. For further info call Sarah at 087 9792483.

BINGO

Bingo is on every Wednesday in Terrerath Community Centre at 8.15. We would like to thank everyone who supports this event and are always looking more newcomers.

COMPUTERS FOR FAMERS

LITTER PICK

Gusserane Tidy Villages group is grateful to the many people who recently took the time to rid the village and surroundin­g areas of the litter which accumulate­d since last April’s litter picking day. Visitors to our village have begun to notice the recent improvemen­ts and have remarked that our locality has become a more attractive place to pass through. More importantl­y it is becoming a more visually pleasing place for all the locals to enjoy.

TABLE QUIZ

Gusserane GAA Club will hold a table quiz in Rosies Bar in Dunmain on Saturday, March 16. A table of four costs only €30. There will be a wide variety of questions on the agenda and a great night of fun is guaranteed. The quiz kicks off at 9 a.m.

THANKS

Many thanks to all farmers, and others who gave up so much of their time to clear the roads around Gusserane following Storm Emma’s snow. Their efforts meant that we returned to normality sooner rather than later.

LOTTO

There was no jackpot winner last week when the numbers drawn were 11, 15, 26 and 28. The match-three winner was Mairead Molloy of Kinnagh. This week’s jackpot stands at €5,300.

CARDS UPDATE

There was no card game in Gusserane last week as a mark of respect to the Power family of Drealistow­n. Please note that the recent card games in aid of Fr Jim Nolan’s missionary work in the Solomon Islands raised a total of €720. The proceeds of the card games was €219 while further donations amounted to €501.

The organisers would like to thank those who supported this cause once again this year and would also like to thank those that provided refreshmen­ts for the card drive. This money will now be forwarded directly to Fr Nolan in the South Pacific islands. Finally, a reminder that cards on the
