STORM EMMA

Storm Emma arrived with a vengance on Thursday, March 1, and brought the whole area to a stand still for two days. There were drifts of snow up to seven feet high on many roads in the area, leaving them impassable. On Saturday morning when it had stopped snowing, local man Jimmy Cullen cleared a passage way through a number of local roads with his digger which was much appreciated by everyone.

A large number of households were also left without water and electricity for three days. The local school remained closed till Tuesday of last week and Mass in the local church was also cancelled on the Sunday morning. Thankfully everything was back to normal on Friday last.
