SILVER CIRCLE DRAW

The winner of the 12th and final Silver Circle Draw was Lisa Murphy. Ticket seller was Janette and Johnny Stafford. Congratula­tions, Lisa. Thanks to everyone for all your support, both in selling and buying tickets for our fundraiser.

While this was the final Silver Circle Draw, Clonroche Against Wind Turbines will remain active and vigilant and should there be any future developmen­ts, we will keep the community informed. Thanks again for the fantastic community support we received.

ST PATRICK’S DAY PARADE

In spite of the cold weather, there was a large attendance at the annual St Patrick’s Day parade in Clonroche. Thanks to all the business and clubs who again made a huge efforts with their floats and participan­ts. The parade was led by Jimmy Murphy as St Patrick.

The Overall Prize went to Cloughbawn GAA Club for their well thought out theme based on their celebratio­ns of 100 years in existence, There was lots of participat­ion from all age groups with good costuming depicting the different era’s. The most topical prize went to Car Doc, The Business Float: Jack Kavanagh Village Forecourt Comical Entry: Wexford Hurling Boys, who were representi­ng the Boro Inn. The Highly Commended float went to the Cloch Ban Float was magnificen­tly turned out with great costuming and a good theme.

The house of stories was very original and a lot of work and effort was put in to build it. The characters sitting on the float were very convivial and added to the overall perception. Be Safe be Seen Car was a very original idea and was highly commended by the judges.

The Clonroche Developmen­t Associatio­n Float, prepared my Michael Cogley and Jim Redmond during the week, expressed the important work carried out by this group. Vintage Cars and Tractors well represente­d and a special thanks to the Shamrock Vintage Club, Phil Jackman and Bill Murphy for participat­ing.

A special thanks to the people who turned out to support the event under such trying weather conditions, To Michael Furlong, Palace for supplying the stage. Parish priest Fr Bernard Cushen, Revd Ian Cruickshan­k, Rector of Killanne Union of Parishes and John Fleming MCC for reviewing the parade, Special thanks to everyone who in any way helped or participat­ed in the event.

SPLIT-THE-POT

This week’s winner was Evan Fenlon Sli An Uisce, who scooped €242 this week. A prize each week with 80% staying local.

CLOUGHBAWN GAA

The club will hold their final registrati­on evening on Wednesday, March 28, in the Complex 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Membership must be paid by March 31.

Fees for 2018 are: Family €120 (including underage and student up to 23 years) Adult player €100 Adult (student) €50, Underage player €30, Non-Playing member €40, OAP €25. All include complex facilities/Walking Track.

Club merchandis­e, club lotto and model county tickets will also be available at registrati­on.
