Best of luck to our 6th class as they move on they on their new school after the summer holidays.

The end of year school Mass took place on Tuesday last June 26th. Many thank to all involved.

Best of luck to Ms. Leacy as she takes up a new teaching position in Dublin. We thank her for all the work she done in Caroreigh N.S. and for her commitment to the children in her care.

We welcome Ms. Forde to our teaching in permanent capacity and we also wish her well as she gets married over the summer.

COMMUNITY GAMES

Well done to the 29 children who represented the Taghmon Area at the Community Games athletics final on Sunday, June 24, at Enniscorthy track.

We had a great turnout from entrants despite the heat and the temptation to head for the sea instead!

Thanks to all the parents for bringing them along. Thanks also to everyone who helped out from the area on the day by walking in the parade or helping at events etc. It was great to see Becky Cashin, from our area, taking on the prestigious task of lighting the community games flame to begin the Final this year.

From there, the entrants from Taghmon continued to blaze a trail with all the entrants putting in a big effort in their events. We had multiple medal placings including 13 individual medals and 3 sets of relay team medals.

We hope all entrants feel proud of how they represented the Taghmon area, some for the first time at a county competition. Taghmon Community Games certainly are proud of all our entrants.

The medal winners on the day were: U8 boys 60m Darragh Goff, 2nd place; U8 girls 80m Emma Creane, 3rd place; U10 Girls 200m Kayleigh Butler, 3rd place; U12 Boys 600m Alex O’Keefe, 3rd place; U12 Boys Ball Throw Craig Doyle, 1st place; U14 Girls Long Jump Chloe Doyle, 3rd place; U14 Girls Shot Putt Jade Sinnott, 2nd place; U14 Boys 100m Ben O’Toole, 3rd place; U14 Boys Shot Putt Bobby Jo Pitt, 2nd place; U16 Girls 100m Aisling Kelly, 1st Place; U16 Girls 100m Chloe O’Toole, 2nd place; U16 Girls High Jump Derbhla O’Hanlon; U16 Boys 1500m Evan O’Grady

A special mention also for Cillian Buttimer who so narrowly missed a medal placing on his community games county final debut in the U8 60m sprint.

Well done to our four relay teams who competed on the day, three of whom scooped medal placings. Under-16 girls, Aisling Kelly, Chloe O’Toole, Derbhla O’Hanlon and Laura O’Hanlon placed third under-13 Mixed team of Ben O’Toole, Bobby Jo Pitt, Becky Cashin and Elena Piero Doyle placed second and under-12 girls Becky Cashin, Elena Piero Doyle, Ellie Murphy and Grainne Roche Kelly, who also placed third. Our fourth team under-10 mixed with Róisín Reville, Jake Murphy, Kayleigh Butler and Tom Reville also put in a great performance but didn’t make the medals on the day.

Best of luck to Aisling Kelly, Craig Doyle and Evan O’Grady, who have qualified for the national finals in Limerick in August.
