Late Dwyer goal wins it for Shamrock Rovers

Leaders Shamrock Rovers were pushed all the way by a gallant Forth Celtic outfit, before eventually taking all three points from their Premier Division clash in Murrintown.

A late Ricky Dwyer penalty was the difference between the sides as the Enniscorth­y crew moved seven points clear at the summit.

Rosslare Rangers have been going along nicely since their return to the top flight, although they’ve probably drawn too many games for their liking, but on Sunday they got their second win on the board as they beat Corach Ramblers 3-1 in Danescastl­e.

Lee Devereux bagged a brace for the winners, with Shane Sinnott netting their other goal and Gareth McCurtin replying.

Table-toppers Kilmore United got back to winning ways on Sunday as they edged out Cloughbawn 2-1.

Darren Naughten and the ever-reliable Shane Cassidy scored for the winners, with Willie Murphy replying for Cloughbawn.

Jamie Dempsey-Doyle scored a late penalty for second-placed St. Cormac’s to earn them a share of the spoils with New Ross Celtic after a 2-2 draw. Mick Sweeney got their other goal from a free-kick, while Mark Lee and Rory O’Connor hit the back of the net for the Barrowside­rs.

North End United scored four goals in the last twelve minutes as they saw off Tombrack 4-0, with Pa Beary, Philly Leniston, Ashley Houghton and Dean Roche getting on the scoresheet for the town outfit.

Dayle Donohoe was the main man for Moyne Rangers, as he helped himself to a hat-trick in their 5-1 win over Gorey Celtic. Ryan Mahon chipped in with a double, while Des Wolohan replied for Celtic.

Elsewhere, New Ross Town and Campile United came away with a point apiece after a scoreless stalemate. Adamstown closed to within five points of leaders Glynn Barntown with a hard-fought away win over Taghmon United on Sunday.

Tom Shannon, Dan Thorpe and Kieran Finn got the goals for the visitors in a 3-2 victory, with Ryan Banville and Seamie McLoughlin scoring for Taghmon.

Crossabeg got themselves back into the mix with a 5-1 win on the road against Rosslare Port, with the visitors getting on the scoresheet through Cian Boggan, an own goal, Theo Doyle, David Berney and Shane Lawless.

Nigel Dunne, Rob Kehoe, Seán McGrath and Ian Gaffney (penalty) got the goals for Cushinstow­n as they edged out Shelburne United in a seven-goal thriller, with Kieran Kelly, Bryan Lynch and Brian Minogue replying.
