€10,000 FOR STUDENTS

- By BRENDAN KEANE

NEW Ross Credit Union has presented its latest round of students bursaries.

Sarah Logan presented the cheques at a ceremony in the credit union building and in total €10,000 was handed out.

The bursaries are aimed at helping secondary school students from within the credit union’s general catchment area further their studies through third level college.

The bursary scheme is usually one of the things mentioned and praised at the organisation’s Annual General Meeting as being one of the most beneficial and positive initiatives supported by the organisation’s members.

The students who received this year’s bursaries thanked the credit union for its generosity and they agreed it will help them with their future studies and careers.

The students who received the awards came from schools all around the catchment including: Grennan College, Thomastown; FCJ Bunclody; CBS, New Ross; Ramsgrange Community School; Good Counsel College, New Ross; and Our Lady of Lourdes Secondary School, New Ross.
