UNDER-14 GIRLS FINAL WIN

Congratula­tion to the Clongeen under-14 girls, who completed a comprehens­ive win over the Shamrocks in the under-14 County Final on Sunday the 11th in Davidstown.

The girls were mentored by Collie Byrne and Bertie O’Grady and what a fine job they did as the girls really showed great organisati­on and teamwork on the day that didn’t come out of nowhere, so well done to all involved on this delayed but well earned win.

BREAKFAST MORNING

There will be a Breakfast Morning on Sunday, November 25, in aid of raising a few pound for the Clongeen Community Sports Field in Horetown. Its taking place in Anne and Markies premises in Clongeen, who will be assisted by the various clubs using the pitch which includes the Ladies’ Football and camogie, Stoney Rovers LFC and Stoney’s underage. the cost for the breakfast is €10 for dults and only €2.50 for children.

Door prizes will be on offer for those who support this event, so feel free to come along fairly hungry this Sunday morning and you will be well looked after.

Your support would be greatly appreciate­d as all funds raised go directly to the use of the facilities there.

THE FORGE VINTAGE CLUB

The Forge Vintage Club will hold our Christmas party and presentati­on of cheques night on Saturday, December 1, in the Oak Tree Bar in Foulkmills. Doors open from 8.30 p.m. with a buffett dinner served on the night. Music for the event will be provided by T-Bone Country and tickets cost are only €15 each and can be bought from any of our members, Anne Sinnotts Shop in Clongeen or there will be a limited number available on the door.

All Proceeds for 2018 will be given out on the night to Wexford Hospice Homecare and other local charities. Another great night is in store and we hope to see you there.

BABY/TODDLER GROUP

This friendly group meets every Wednesday morning during school terms between 9.30 a.m. and 11.30 a.m. in the Sunshine room in Clongeen School. It is open to anyone from the Clongeen area and from further afield – parents, grandparen­ts, guardians, childminde­rs, etc. are all welcome, and of course the little ones too (babies to toddlers). The cost is only €4 per adult which includes refreshmen­ts for both the adults and children.

This is a fun and relaxed group with loads of fun activities, crafts and singing, where both adults and children can meet new friends. As toddlers are growing up and moving on to the next step in their young lives, we have loads of room for new comers this September. OVER-35S SOCCER

About 15 guys took to the pitch on Saturday, November 10, and for a change the young fellas came out on top after an 50/50 game that was only separated by a single goal at the end. It was a fair game that was enjoyed by all who made it and there’s plenty more from where that came.

DUNCANNON ICA

The October meeting of Duncannon ICA was held on Mon.15th at St Louis Day Care Centre. The president Gretta was delighted to introduce three new members: Margaret Hodman, Anna Walsh and Deborah Duffin Whitton and a warm welcome was extended to them by the members present.

The Federation meeting held on September 24, and hosted by Duncannon ICA at the Day Care Centre, was greatly enjoyed by ICA members who travelled from all corners of Co. Wexford. Gretta thanked members for being such hospitable hosts and for providing such a lovely display of homebaking for the tea served after the business of the meeting.

The meeting was addressed by representa­tives from Pieta House and Wexford Mental Health, who will benefit from the ICA charity walk to be held in Kennedy Park. The next federation meeting will be held in the Riverbank Hotel on November 26. And members are asked to bring along their rosettes for the memory tree.

Gretta organised a cookery demonstrat­ion by Mary Kelly Camross on October 4.The profits from this successful night went towards scholarshi­ps to An Grianan. Mary O’K and Rosaleen were the lucky recipients from the Duncannon Guild.

It was decided to run a bus to the Knit and Stitch Show in the RDS.if there was enough interest.

Recipes for a book on breads and bracks to be launched at the Ploughing Championsh­ips 2019 must be entered before mid Jan. To be considered for inclusion.

The guest speaker was Oonagh Trehin, Fethard-on-Sea, who is a registered Nutritioni­st and gives evidence based advice on all aspects of nutrition. Having studied, qualified and worked in Great Britain she has returned home and set up a nutrition consultanc­y ‘Little O’Nutrition’.

The competitio­n for the most colourful autumn leaf was won by Deirdre with Rosaleen second and Margaret third. Kathleen served a welcome cup of tea and the raffle prizes were won by Teresa, Deirdre, Kathleen and Rosaleen. The competitio­n for the Nov. meeting is to collect a list of the many words ‘as Gaeilge’ in our environmen­t. This is in preparatio­n for the Nov Federation meeting where there will be a prize awarded to the guild who finds the most words and phrases.

Fethard-on-Sea Country Market Christmas Market will be held on Sunday, December 2, 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Come and join us for some Christmas Treats, baking and crafts etc., following by turning on of the Christmas lights and Santa in the village.
