SAFEGUARDING REPRESENTATIVES.

With so much emphasis on the safeguarding of children Rosbercon Parish have fallen into line with the announcement of its two Safeguarding Representatives. They are, Anne O’Sullivan, Ballykenna, and Brid Vereker Millbanks Close, Rosbercon, who can be contacted at any time there is a problem.

GAELIC FOOTBALL

Tullogher-Rosbercon bowed out of the Leinster Junior Club Football Championship when Dundalk Young Ireland’s beat them by a seven-point margin, 0-13 to 0-6 in the game played at O’Kennedy Park New Ross.

The Louth representatives were the better team on the day but were helped greatly by a shocking display from referee, David O’Connor, and his officials from Dublin. Inconsistency in his calls raised the ire of the sizeable Tullogher following.

After consultation with his linesman, he red-carded Jason Shiely for a seemingly innocuous offence and moments later a frontal charge on Tullogher’s Pat Hartley went unpunished when it either was a red or at least a black card. Why cannot referees be consistent in their interpretation of the rules-they seem to be different from game to game.

A 14-man Tullogher team fought to the bitter end but the task was now beyond them and Young Ireland’s advanced to meet St Brigid’s of Offaly in the Leinster Final.
