Michael was a devoted family man
MICHAEL SUGRUE, late of Fairfield View, Adamstown, who died on November 4 after an illness, was a devoted family man.
Formerly of Glenbeigh, County Kerry, and London, Michael was the beloved husband of the late Bernadette (Bernie) and loving father of Michael, John, Vincent and Eamon.
Michael was born in 1938. He attended school in Glenbeigh and moved to east Cork with his family, before emigrating to London where he worked in civil engineering up until his retirement.
He moved to Adamstown to be closer to his mother when she was ill. Michael cared for her until he became ill. He was predeceased by Bernie three years ago.
Michael loved gardening and was a champion at tug-of-war, competing in events in the UK.
He will be remembered as a friendly man who was a great character.
Sadly Michael developed Parkinson’s which he suffered from for 12 years. He was a resident of Mill House care home in New Ross for three years.
A family member said: ‘ He loved having the craic with people and got on with everyone.’
He turned 80 on October 8 and died on November 4 at Wexford General Hospital. A crowd attended Michael’s funeral Mass at St. Abban’s Church, Adamstown, followed by his burial afterwards in adjoining cemetery.
Michael is sadly missed by his family, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, cousins, relatives and friends.
May he rest in peace.
