Bypasses on target
THE plan to open the Enniscorthy bypass this year is well on target according to a report from Wexford County Council CEO, Tom Enright.
In the report Mr Enright noted that the contractor involved in the M11 Gorey to Enniscorthy PPP scheme said the programme is on target and the M11 and N80 will be open to traffic in July.
It’s expected that some minor works will take place up to the end of the contract date in November.
According to Mr Enright’s report 99 per cent site clearance has now been completed and 95 per cent of the main bridge structures on the project have also been completed.
Access structures have been 96 per cent completed and fencing and drainage and service ducts have been 92 and 89 per cent completed, respectively.
However, there is still a lot of work to do in terms of safety barriers which are only 27 per cent complete.
Work on the New Ross bypass is also going ahead on target with the new roundabouts at Corcoran’s Cross, on the N30, and at Ballymacar, on the N25, already opened and utilised as part of the existing road network.
Work on the project between Ballymacar and Corcoran’s Cross is also progressing extremely well while work on the main focal point of the project, the new bridge over the river Barrow at the Pink Rock, is also progressing on target.
Both roads are scheduled to be fully opened this year and it’s expected that both projects will be completed within their specified target time.
