WEXFORD Local Enterprise, Abodoo and Bank of Ireland hosted a breakfast morning on Friday in the Hatch Lab in Gorey to demonstrate and show how companies can embrace flexible working.
It included the launch by Gorey-based Abodoo of a talent map, specially commissioned by Wexford County Council, which showcases the wealth and breadth of talent available across Wexford and the immediate surrounding area.
The conclusion is that adopting a smartworking model – part-home, part-office, remotely working from hubs – is a very attractive proposition. The average business can save more than €11,000 on average per employee when operating a smartworking policy.
The published talent heat map indicates the variety and seniority of the skills available in Wexford. The numbers and diverse experiences are good reason in themselves for businesses to look to Wexford when sourcing talent. The fact that the cost of living is lower here than Dublin, with affordable housing as well as the added benefit that smartwork brings in terms of health and well being the presentation made remote working look very attractive. Wexford County Council is keen to highlight the skills and experience available in the area for a number of reasons, but to also improve the local job prospects by promoting the number and quality of professionals across all disciplines looking to work locally to employers looking for new talent pools.
