Student caught with illicit drugs worth €100
The mother of Mairead Moran (20) of Kilcavan, Wellingtonbridge came to the assistance of her daughter who faced a drugs prosecution at the District Court.
The younger woman, a student at DCU, was caught with €100 worth of an illicit substance in Wellingtonbridge on June 13 last. Solicitor Tim Cummings assured Judge John Cheatle that his client had learnt her lesson.
The judge suggested that no conviction would be recorded once a €100 donation was made to the Cornmarket Project.
The mother indicated that she was willing to come up with the money but made it clear that the accused would be required to pay her back.
Mr. Cummings came forward with a couple of €50 notes and the case was then struck out.
