School uniforms as Confirmation out fits

February 1996

-

School uniforms will be the order of the day at St. Aidan’s primary school in Enniscorthy for this year’s Confirmation day.

Fed up with spending hundreds of pounds on special outfits for the children, families have instead opted to pay just £10 each for a jumper. The parents’ council at St. Aidan’s has bought a set of new jumpers, to replace ones that may be tatty and torn after years of wear. They will loan them out to any sixth class student who orders one. If they do not have the correct size for any pupil, they will get one.

The parents placed their orders at Christmas time, and on the Thursday before Confirmation day, each family will pay a tenner and receive a jumper. After the ceremony, the jumpers will be handed back and the ten pounds refunded.
