SWIMMING
CONGRATULATIONS to twelveyear-old Emmet Cousins who represented Scoil Mhuire (Coolcotts) at the Irish Minor schools swimming championships in Dublin recently.
Emmet swam in the heats to finish in fourth place and earn a place in the finals.
He then powered home in a great race to finish in second place in the 50m backstroke with a new personal best time of 34.08 seconds, missing first place by 0.15 of a second.
Emmet also swam in the 100m I.M. in 1.18.74, taking 3.68 seconds off his previous time.
This was Emmet’s last Minor competition as he moves ages up to Senior next year.
He has had a great run at Minor level, achieving four golds in four consecutive years at the Leinster Minor schools.
He has also just achieved his first Irish Division 1 qualifying times for the Irish Division 1 championships in the summer.
Emmet is a member of Wexford Swimming Club and Wexford Pool and Surf Lifesaving Club.
