SAFE TALK TRAINING

Suicide Alertness Training at SWWFRC on Tuesday, March 26, at 6 p.m. Safe TALK helps participan­ts recognise a person with thoughts of suicide and connect them with resources that can help them in choosing to live. Participan­ts don’t need any formal preparatio­n to attend the training – anyone aged 18 or older who wants to make a difference can learn the safe TALK steps. This training will take place in SWWFRC Ramsgrange and booking is essential. Contact Reception at SWWFRC as soon as possible to book your place.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

At SWWFRC we run projects with a group of core staff, a team of CE workers (of which there is always space to join) and a dedicated group of volunteers. We are asking for people to join us – simply by offering their time. A few hours a week can make a huge difference to the services we can offer. Full training (if necessary) will be given. EDUCATION AT SWWFRC

Evening courses commencing soon: Work Experience Level 5; Health Care Support Level 5: Safety and health at Work; Business Administra­tion: Word Processing Level 5. Early Childhood: Early Childhood Education and Play Level 5.

BLOKES WITH CAMERAS

Blokes with Cameras meet at South West Wexford Family Resource Centre, Ramsgrange on Wednesday 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Beginners and advanced photograph­ers welcome, and you don’t need a fancy camera to enjoy photograph­y. We will be running a basic photo shop course so you can have more fun with your photos. Make a note, come along and enjoy photograph­y in a relaxed atmosphere. COFFEE MORNING

Senior citizens Concern CLG are holding a coffee morning on Tuesday, February 19, from 9 a.m. to midday in St Louis Day Care Centre. Proceeds in aid of the Day Care Centre.

ACTIVE RETIREMENT

The monthly meeting will be held on Monday, March 4, in St Louis Day Care Centre, Ramsgrange, starting at 2.15 p.m. Come along for a chat with new and old friends over a cup of tea and a bun.

Yearly membership fees, of €20 per member, are due by the end of February. We are always looking for new members, so if you are 50 or over, why not come along and join us.

AFTERNOON TEA – This will be held in the Kings Bay Inn, Arthurstow­n, on February 20 – this will be a drop in from 2.30 till 4.30. Please make sure you have your name down and please pay your €10 at the February 4 meeting. Call Kelly at 087 6372084.

GAA CLUB NEWS

St James GAA Club is holding a social membership morning from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday, February 24, in Mersheen GAA pitch. Membership costs €20 for the year. This includes the use of the Walking Track, Ball Alley, Attendance at Club Meetings and Championsh­ip Match Updates. Each member will receive a membership card for the 2019 season. The lotto jackpot is €10,700 and the next draw will take place on the evening of Tuesday, February 19. Lotto tickets are €2 each and can be purchased from committee members and in local shops and pubs. The club would like to thank all the ticket sellers and the premises who take their lotto books for ticket sales.

HORTICULTU­RE SOCIETY AGM

Ramsgrange Horticultu­re Society held their AGM on February 13 in the Strand Tavern, Duncannon.

TEENAGE DISCO

There will be a teenage disco in Campile Hall this coming Friday night, February 22, for all secondary school students from 9 p.m. to midnight Doors open at 8 p.m. Strictly no alcohol or drugs allowed. This is a fully supervised event.

CAMPILE BINGO

There is a weekly game of bingo being held in Campile Hall every Monday night at 8.30 p.m. in aid of the ongoing developmen­t of the hall, with prize money of €1,250 approximat­ely being paid out each night with a rolling in house lotto and Snowball also being played each night. We welcome each and every one senior citizens, young and children alike to try it.
