A New Ross & District Chamber RETC spokesperson said a special thanks to New Ross Municipal District for its generous contribution and assistance over recent years, amounting to tens of thousands of euros in funding.

‘The new lights at the Marina added to the welcome into our town for the Christmas time. It is planned to expand Christmas lighting to the Irishtown as well as infrastructure for Rosbercon. Rosbercon Vintage Club plan to purchase lights for Rosbercon area,’ the spokesperson said. The suggestion to provide a direct debit facility for the lights contributions was considered and this will be made available in the coming weeks to business owners.

‘Further suggestions are welcome. In order to make Christmas 2019 very special much help and assistance is required so please consider getting involved to really make New Ross great.’

During Nollaig 2018, the chamber and council organised a Christmas market at Maher’s Yard, with events held every weekend in the run up to Christmas, including Santa Claus arriving into the town by boat, the New Ross Nollaig Christmas Parade, the switch on of the lights, a Christmas lights tractor run and more. A full list of contributors to the lights will appear in next week’s edition.
