BRAVE Fethard-on-Sea woman Iseult Bouarroudj has taken part in a hair-raising fundraiser for a Co Wexford school her son attends, raising €6,078.

Iseult did a headshave at Gemini hair salon on November 15 for St Patrick’s Special School in Enniscorthy where her son Karin attends.

The mother-of-three started chemotherapy last were having recently gotten a diagnosis of stage 3 ovarian cancer.

When she got the diagnosis she decided to shave her blonde locks off in advance. ‘In for a penny, in for a pound,’ she said. ‘It’s the second time I’ve shaved my head for charity.’

‘I wanted to raise some money for my son’s school. He has special needs (non verbal autism and epilepsy), and his school always needs extra financial support.’

Their were screams and shrieks at Gemini hair salon from the crowd of family and friends in attendance as Iseult got a brand new look before their eyes.

Iseult said she was delighted to sacrifice her hair for a school her son loves.

‘He absolutely loves his school. My idea was to do something nice to send on something to the school because they are getting a new school next year and need new equipment.’

Iseult said: ‘I’m overwhelmed with support from family and friends and to give great thanks especially to Lorraine O’Leary at Geminii Hair Salon, for the actual headshave.’

She said the response to the GoFundMe page was amazing, raising over €4,200, while coffee mornings held at health centres in Wexford and New Ross raised hundreds also.

Iseult is due to finished her chemotherapy in the spring when she is looking forward to returning to work as a senior dental surgeon in Wexford.

A Campile man travelled from his adopted home city of Hong Kong to

Dublin in October, raising over €6,100 for Temple Street children’s hospital by running the Dublin City Marathon.

Ken Howlin or who is better known as Froggy is a son of Jamsie and Michael

(Gucci) Howlin.

Ken trained hard for the marathon and had originally decided not to run in it for any particular cause until he spoke to friends whose daughter Chloe had attended Temple Street hospital.

Unfortunately Chloe passed away age seven despite all the magnificent care from all the staff in Temple Street.

This encouraged Ken to run in memory of Chloe and Temple Street hospital.

With the help of family in Fisherstown he got tremendous support locally in Campile, as well as online donations, raising €6,188.47.

Ken said: ‘A big thanks to everyone who donated to this great cause.’
