LATE SEAN FURLONG

Deep and widespread regret was occasioned by the passing of Seán Furlong, Coolree, Ballindaggin which occurred peacefully at his residence on Monday, May 18.

Deepest sympathy is extended to his wife Betty and to his sons Patrick and Jimmy and his daughters Catherine, Mary, Elizabeth and Bridget. Also to his brother Michael and sister Carmel, grandchildren, sons-in-law, daughter-in-law and extended family and many friends.

Seán was one of the best known and most popular members of the community in his native Ballindaggin and beyond and his sincere pleasing and friendly personality endeared him to all. He had a deep faith and was a lifelong member of the PTAA. He had a great community spirit and took an active part in all local organisations and enjoyed his visits to the Duffry Social Club every week and Ballindaggin Story House every month where his welcome presence will be sadly missed. Seán was a devoted family man and his passing will leave a huge void among his loving family.

He was laid to rest in Ballindaggin Cemetery following funeral Mass in St, Colman’s Church. A memorial Mass will be held at a later date. May he rest in peace.

SYMPATHY

Deepest sympathy is extended to Briege Murphy, Shroughmore, Ballindaggin on the death of her Father Peader Keenan, Dundalk, who died on May May 15 he rest in peace.

HISTORY POSTPONED

Last Friday, May 22, was to be a memorable day in the life of many young people from the parish who were to receive the sacrament of Confirmation but due to covid 19 restrictions the joyful event will be held at a later date.

In particular it was meant to be a significant day in the history books of the parish as due to the large group of children to be confirmed it was decided to have confirmation in Kiltealy Church for Caim and Kiltealy pupils and Ballindaggin pupils in St, Colman’s Church as usual. However, we look forward to the ceremony taking place in both churches in the near future.

When restrictions are lifted it will be a busy time indeed in all walks of life as everyone tries to catch up with planned activities that have been put on hold. In the meantime lets hope we get good health and more of the beautiful weather of late.
