Tribute to Baron Alco’s victory in the BetVictor Gold Cup
TRAINER Gary Moore had to be talked into running Baron Alco in the BetVictor Gold Cup — but it paid off with a gutsy win.
The seven-year-old put in an excellent round of jumping to win with something left in the tank.
Moore said: “Thank goodness the owners talked me into running him. The horse is all heart. I was going to take him out, as I thought the ground was quick enough.”
It was a family affair with son Jamie in the saddle. The delighted trainer added: “They are made for each other.
“Jumping is what won him the race. They are both very bold and they just kept out of the way.”
