The BEST THINGS in life

- Interview by Michelle Townsend

I’m proud that I have an income and get a salary doing a job I love

Enya Martin rose to Internet fame a couple of years ago making comedy sketches on her Facebook page, Giz A Laugh. Since then she has kept the nation laughing with her hilarious videos and stand-up material. Here, Enya tells RSVP all about the things in life that make her smile, and why she loves nothing more than a girls’ weekend in Benidorm

THE MOVIE

There are a couple of movies I would watch time and time again, but My Best Friend’s Wedding is top of the list. I will never get bored of it.

THE SINGER

Miley Cyrus. I would saw my arm off to see her live [laughs]! You also can’t go wrong with Westlife. I’ve seen them live so many times but they never lose their mojo.

THE PODCAST

I actually don’t listen to comedy podcasts, which people might be surprised to hear.

There’s a personal trainer called Sean Casey and he has a podcast, I love listening to him.

THE BEAUTY PRODUCT

I always use Anastasia Beverly Hills’ foundation. I remember once I left it in my mam’s house and when I called over the next day she had a full face of make-up on. She was laughing, but I wasn’t – that’s €50 a bottle!

THE CLOTHES SHOP

I love browsing Boohoo online and then Penneys is a no-brainer, obviously.

THE TRAVEL DESTINATION

I’ve been to New York three times and I love it. I’d move over there in a heartbeat, but you’d have to have a really great job to live in Times Square! I also love Benidorm. I know it’s tacky but whenever me and my friends go we have the best time. Plus, it’s cheap as chips.

THE ACHIEVEMENT

I would say where I’m at right now. Before I started making comedy videos I thought I’d have to live the

9-5 life forever. I’m proud that I have an income and get a salary doing a job I love because I put myself out there and kept going. It took time but I’m so glad I stuck it out because it was well worth the wait.

THE PERSON

My best friend Karina. I confide in her a lot, she gives me tough love when I need it and we talk every day. ■ Enya Martin – Ask Your Ma! comes to Dublin’s Vicar Street on September 22. Tickets are available to buy on Ticketmaster now. Visit @gizalaugh_ on Instagram for more tour dates and listen to Crossy and Enya on FM104 every Saturday from 10am-1pm.
