Max, however, is furious about the consequences for his custody battle. Nevertheless, he cannot help but wonder where Cora got her information from, and vows to deny everything in the hope she might be blu ng.

Later, Rainie extends an olive branch to Cora, suggesting they ought to do what’s best for Abi. However, Cora is in no mood to compromise and as tensions mount, she ends up lashing out at Rainie, leaving her injured and in need of hospital treatment. She and Max then approach Ian to apologise for the trouble they have caused, and he agrees to withdraw his support for Cora’s custody application. But despite this positive development, Max remains concerned that Rainie’s volatility has permanently hindered his prospects of gaining custody of his granddaughter. Will Rainie’s statement to the police do more harm than good? Elsewhere, there’s plenty more turmoil in the o ng for Hayley, who is at rst in high spirits having managed to get her baby to settle. But that isn’t the limit of her plans, and when Hayley overhears her on the telephone, she is horri ed by what her mother is trying to do. Desperate for help, Hayley secretly reaches out to Jean, but Bev gets wind of this and prevents Jean from getting too close. Later, Bev makes Kat a lucrative o er if she can help get Hayley to come around to her way of thinking with regard to her baby.

Meanwhile, Ti any inadvertently lands herself in all kinds of trouble as she makes a feisty new friend called Evie in McKlunky’s. Evie’s uninhibited boldness initially impresses Ti any, and the pair end up getting to know each other over lunch, but there is a shock in store. Ti any then incurs Whitney’s anger by skipping school to meet Evie again, and this time, her new friend has a troubling favour to ask.
