In a rst for Chanel, the legendary clear-glass perfume ask designed by Mademoiselle Chanel is donning a ery cloak of red. For this Christmas, Chanel’s limited edition No.5 Eau de Parfum and No.5 Eau de Toilette will appear in red glass. Designed in 1921, the clear rectangular bottle with simple, geometric lines and a facetted stopper soon became a symbol of a modern aesthetic. Red, according to Mademoiselle Chanel, is “the colour of life, the colour of blood.” Red promises commitment and self-assertion, an incarnation of all the boldness, freedom and strength of a woman who forged her own destiny. Whether crimson, garnet or ruby, teamed with velvet, tweed or chi on, for a suit or a cloak, red always made a powerful and feminine statement in Mademoiselle Chanel’s designs. The No.5 Eau de Parfum Red Edition (100ml), RRP €150 (limited edition)
