RTÉ Guide Christmas Edition

Hopscotch and the Christmas tree

5.30pm rtéjr

It’s almost Christmas, so Hopscotch and friends decide to put up their tree. But when their old one falls apart, no one can agree how the new one should look. Big, or small, fat or thin? Can the friends work together to find a new one? After all, it wouldn’t be Christmas without a tree... would it?

Hopscotch the horse, Malcolm the cow, Barbara the sheep, Carlo the cat, Ingrid the pig and Jules the chicken embark on their first snowy adventure and learn that, whilst everyone is different and likes different things, we can all come together to reach a common goal.

Having recently been nominated for Cartoon Producer of the Year by Cartoon Forum, Irish animation company, Ink & Light, bring this heart-warming story to our screens, exclusively on RTÉJR. Hopscotch and the Christmas Tree is a brand new Christmas story and also the first book in the Happy Go Hopscotch series. Based on the principles of The Science of Happiness (also known as Positive Psychology, a field of social science that explores what makes us thrive), Hopscotch and the Christmas Tree teaches children and parents alike the importance of being happy.

The book was first published in the UK last year by Tiny Tree and quickly became their fastestselling title. Both the book and TV special were created and written by author Katy Segrove and illustrated by the artist Katerina Vykhodtseva.

This delightful production features artwork hand-painted by Irish artists and characters voiced by a mix of new and experienced Irish talent (Caoimhe O’malley, Gary Cooke, Marcus Lamb, Garry Mountaine & Sorcha Brooks).

(Repeated on Christmas Day at 7.00am and 5.15pm)
