1

A movie that always makes me cry...

Ghost (1990).The scene where Sam (Patrick Swayze) says to Oda-Maye Brown ( Whoopi Goldberg) ‘push a penny under the door’ and he uses every inch of his newfound ‘strength’ as a ghost to raise it up into Molly’s (Demi Moore) hand. On cue, a tear trickles down her cheek...the moment of realisation. It makes me cry every time!

2

The first movie quote that springs to mind...

“Nobody is gonna hit as hard as life, but it ain’t how hard you can hit. It’s how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. It’s how much you can take, and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done.” Rocky, from Rocky Balboa (2006)

3

A movie I always associate with my childhood...

Dirty Dancing (1987). The dance moves, the soundtrack, the forbidden love story! The greatness of this movie was never lost on me despite my near-daily viewings of it as a kid. And like most ’80s kids, we risked limbs and collected bruises trying to perfect the iconic lift. “Nobody puts Baby in the corner!”

4

The most romantic movie moment I can recall... The closing scene of The Notebook (2004): It’s clichéd I know, but I can’t go against my gut on this one! It’s possibly one of the most heart-breaking movie moments and yet manages to also be the most romantic: such a powerful love, an unconditional love, right until the end.

5

The one movie I’m definitely taking to that desert island... Now if I was o to a desert island, I wouldn’t be watching movies! I’d sooner watch the waves lapping against the shore, listen to the birdsong and meditate.

6

The movie scene that never fails to make me laugh...

Oh, Melissa McCarthy is comedy gold in Bridesmaids (2011): that scene where all the gals are in the bridal boutique and suddenly a wave of food poisoning hits. She totally steals the scene where she’s sitting in the sink (not the toilet): “It’s coming out of me like lava…don’t look at me!”

7

A movie I’m ashamed to admit I’ve never seen...

The Lord of the Rings (all of them!)

8

My first movie star crush... Patrick Swayze in Dirty Dancing (1987).

9

The scariest movie moment I can remember...

Stephen King’s IT (has to be!) The shape-shifting evil he created terri ed us as kids. That blood-thirsty clown (Pennywise) still has me looking down shores and plug-holes with apprehension!

10

The actor or actress who will play me in the movie of my life... Mmmm?! Anne Hathaway or maybe Penélope Cruz... if she can nail the Irish accent!
