Win tickets to ELIZA’s Adventures in the Uncanny Valley and a stay at the four-star Morgan Hotel, Dublin, on October 3
Pan Pan presents ELIZA’s Adventures in the Uncanny Valley at Samuel Beckett Theatre, Trinity College, Dublin from October 3 to 7 as part of Dublin Theatre Festival. MIT in Boston developed software in the early ’60s, called ELIZA, a reference to George Bernard Shaw’s Pygmalion. It seemed to make conversation between human and computer possible, but the machine’s intelligent responses turned out to be a trick – it was all scripted. So how can a robot now write poetry? An Eliza is sent to a motel, where she interacts with four characters who are all mysteriously booked into the same room. They explore love, death, metaphysics, evil and evolution. panpantheatre.com
