Frame of Mind
Every year, St Patrick’s Mental Health Services and Walk in My Shoes runs a short film competition, Frame of Mind. The aim is to improve awareness about mental health and to help remove the stigma associated with mental health difficulties. This competition is not about using expensive equipment. You can use any type of camera you feel comfortable with (or simply charge up your iPhone) and rope in your classmates, work friends, family or housemates as your cast and crew. * Create a 2 to 3-minute film which you feel portrays a positive mental health message. * Upload your short film to Vimeo. * Email your Vimeo’s URL to info@walkinmyshoes.ie. Don’t forget to complete and attach an entry form, available at walkinmyshoes.ie/shortfilmcomp, where you can also find the competition terms and conditions.
This year there are two categories: secondary schools and general. The shortlisted entries from both categories will be shown at a special screening in St Patrick’s University Hospital, Dublin, on December 10. The winner in each category gets a €1,000 prize and the runner up in each category wins €500. The closing date for entries is 5pm on Friday, November 23.
The winners will be selected by a panel of judges: actor and writer, Paddy C Courtney; award-winning film-maker and musician, Nick Kelly, and the RTÉ Guide movie guy, Michael Doherty.
