Since Graham Foster arrived in Emmerdale, he has been a man of mystery, but few suspected he was capable of murder. Now it seems that he is struggling. Andrew Scarborough, who plays Graham, tell us about the latest developments

Graham Foster is dealing with the aftermath of Joe Tate’s disappearance. Even though Graham was responsible for Joe’s death, following orders from Kim, he has let Cain believe that it was he who killed Joe. (A ght with Cain had le Joe injured, but Graham nished him o ). Graham is now going down a dangerous path and drinking too much. In this week’s episodes, he grabs his car keys and heads out, well over the limit. Megan spots him and attempts to talk some sense into him and persuade him not to drive. Graham misinterprets her concern and tries to kiss her. She pulls away, leaving him utterly morti ed. He barges past her and it’s clear Megan is worried about what he’ll do. en Noah heads up to speak to Graham about Joe and also to persuades him not to drive. Instead, they walk to Butlers Farm and Graham tells Noah this is where he’ll nd his answers about Joe. As Debbie answers the door, she’s shocked when Graham implies Cain knows more about Joe’s disappearance than he is letting on. Will Cain’s secret be revealed? Andrew takes up the story.

How do you think Graham is coping in the wake of Joe’s death?

He misses him terribly. He is reminded of how lonely he is and that is mostly the reason that he is drinking so much.

Why does Megan try to stop him driving while drunk?

She talks him out of driving because basically she looks out for him, takes pity on him and I think she still has feelings for him.

Why do you think Megan rejects him when he moves in for a kiss?

She rejects him because he’s drunk and also, I think she’s not quite ready for that. She has just le Frank so it’s too soon for her, I think.

Noah, who is also worried about Graham and has already spoken to Debbie about him, comes up to the house and they walk back to the farm. What happens then?

Graham is on the brink of telling Debbie a story about Joe’s death. I think he’s ready to explode. He is nding it very di cult to keep it all inside. It’s just a burden to keep it to himself. But he does let slip that Cain knows more than he’s saying he does. He gives a little teaser, I guess it’s deflection. He wants someone else to feel what he’s feeling.

Have people’s views towards Graham changed since Joe’s exit?

Yeah, they don’t trust me. Well, they never trusted me anyway, so obviously people are a lot more wary of Graham. He was always a man of mystery and now there is a lot of speculation regarding Joe. In fact, he might not be dead, as nobody actually saw Graham bury the body!

What else is coming up for Graham?

I think he will have more turmoil, more guilt about whatever happened. I think he will also try and nd happiness, guring out where he stands with Kim because that relationship has changed a er what he’s been through. So, I see a lot of tension there, a lot of jostling for position.
