The ballad of Brenda & Bob

In Emmerdale, it seems Brenda Walker is backing off from romance. Lesley Dunlop, who plays Brenda, explains why this is the case and what might be in store for her and Bob

-

The story so far: Brenda Walker is getting over her relationship with Bob Hope, who cheated on her, and is adamant that she does not want to get back together. It seems he has other ideas though. Meanwhile, Doug is interested in Brenda, but so far she is nding him easy to resist as he is a bit boring. When her twins are ill, Bob o ers to help and it’s clear he’s enjoying being back in the fold. Brenda sadly realised the twins are hoping for a reconciliation between her and Bob and she’s rm as she explains that’s not going to happen. But despite everything, it’s clear Brenda enjoys having Bob around. ey cosy up as they share a glass of wine, but when Bob moves in for a kiss, will Brenda reciprocate?

How has Brenda been feeling since she and Bob split up?

She was very hurt when Bob ran o with Laurel...She felt utterly betrayed by both of them and it has taken Brenda a long time to get over it. She now feels really independent again and has got her life back but Bob’s on a limb and has no one.

Does she still have feelings for him?

Brenda has moved on from Bob. She still cares for him enormously but doesn’t want more than friendship. Would she like to make a go of things with Doug?

Doug is keen for Brenda to accompany him on a date but it’s a gardening event and she’s not keen to go at all. She’s rather relieved when the kids are ill so she can avoid going. My advice to Brenda at the moment would be to have a break from village men...

How does Brenda react when the twins reveal their hopes of a reconciliation for her and Bob?

She’s disappointed for them as she knows that is not what she wants or can do. She’s quite rm when she explains her reasons to the kids. I think Brenda already knows she doesn’t want Bob back. He really hurt her.

How does she feel when he moves in for a kiss?

She’s rather horri ed, to be honest. She just thought he’d understand she’s being kind rather than irty.

If they did get back together, could they make it work?

I am not sure it’s on the cards but one day, I want my character, Brenda, to end up back with Bob, but not now. I think one day they should realise they are made for each other. She’d have to get over the concerns he would cheat again though.

Is Brenda a better match for Bob than Laurel?

Brenda thought she was…and now he’s split with Laurel she was probably right but we don’t know how Laurel was feeling a er the horrendously sad loss of Ashley.

How does Doug feel about Bob being back around?

Well, unbeknownst to Brenda, he’s not happy about it…he’s glowering at Bob across the pub and they end up having words.

Could Doug ever be of interest to Brenda?

Yes, potentially, but he’d have to stop trying to take her to dull gardening events. She wants more interesting dates!

Who is Brenda’s ideal man?

Brenda would like some fun, spontaneity and intelligence but I’m not sure if she’s got her eye on anyone at the moment!

I think Brenda already knows she doesn’t want Bob back. He really hurt her
